23 Nov 2016 Maia Dunphy cosies up for TK Maxx Christmas Sock Day 2016

Festive Feet at The Ready for #socksies in Aid of Enable Ireland

Irish broadcaster Maia Dunphy announced details of Ireland’s first official Christmas Sock Day which takes place on Wednesday December 6th 2016. Introduced by labels-for-less retailer, TK Maxx, the new Christmas charity initiative has been established to help raise funds for Enable Ireland.

The seasonal staple gift is now taking its moment of glory as the public are invited to celebrate the humble necessity for a great cause. This year, shoppers can pull up their festive socks to raise funds for Enable Ireland, who provide vital support services for children and young people with disabilities across Ireland.

TK Maxx and Enable Ireland are encouraging friends, families and school children nationwide to show off their favorite Christmas socks - whether sequined, knitted or fun festive patterns – and share a snap of their support with a Christmas #socksie, tagging Enable Ireland and TK Maxx. For every #socksie uploaded on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, TK Maxx will donate €1 to Enable Ireland*.

Shoppers can purchase an official pair of charity Christmas socks from TK Maxx stores nationwide, with prices starting at €5.99 for both adult and kid designs. This exclusive collection is available in stores now, with at least €2.50 from the sale of every pack donated to Enable Ireland.

Maia Dunphy has pulled up her official socks in support of the cause, commenting, ‘This is a great chance for my fellow sock lovers to get their cozy on and support TK Maxx in raising funds for Enable Ireland. I’m going a step further and will be pimping my Christmas socks for my #socksie, putting my crafting skills to work.’

Deborah Dolce, Group Brand and Marketing Director at TK Maxx, comments: “We’d love everyone to be talking about Christmas socks this year to help raise money for this fantastic cause. We believe the classic gifting staple - Christmas socks – deserves to have this moment of glory. We’re going to raise important funds by asking everyone to have some fun and put on their boldest, brightest pair to create a Christmassy '#socksie or to buy a pair of charity Christmas socks in our store. Or of course, do both if they’re feeling generous!”

Enable Ireland provides vital therapy and support services to over 5,000 children and young people with disabilities across Ireland. Since 1997 TK Maxx customers and associates have raised over €2.2million to support over 5,000 children and young people with disabilities and their families in local communities in 14 counties.

Get involved by sharing your own #socksie on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
